Progress, Not Just Insight
Plenty of people leave therapy understanding exactly why they are the way they are — and yet nothing in their life has actually changed. My work is about the change itself.
Get in TouchInsight is a starting point, not the finish line
A lot of therapy is oriented around insight — understanding your past, naming your patterns, connecting the dots between your childhood and your present. That work matters, and we'll do it. But understanding why you're anxious, or shut down, or stuck in the same fight, doesn't automatically make any of it stop.
What most people actually want — and what I focus on providing — is real change: more life satisfaction, different behavior, steadier confidence. Not just a better explanation for the problem, but an actual shift out of it.
This Might Sound Familiar
- “My life is pretty good, but I feel broken in this one department.”
- You feel like you're standing on the edge of a big problem you have to solve — even though the rest of your life is working.
- You've done therapy before. You talked a lot and felt heard, but you didn't actually get anywhere.
- You have a specific goal in mind and you want to make real progress on it, not process endlessly.
- You're ready for change — you just need an approach that moves.
How I Work
We start with what you actually want to change, and we keep it in view. From there I use focused, evidence-based methods matched to the problem — EMDR for trauma, Emotionally Focused Therapy and Gottman methods for relationships, and Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT) for OCD. These aren't open-ended talk; they're structured ways to help your brain and your behavior actually shift.
My style is warm but direct. I'll validate what deserves validation and I'll be honest about what needs to change. I won't waste your time, and I won't let sessions drift into talking for the sake of talking.
What Actually Changes
When the work is going well, my clients can communicate their needs clearly and kindly. They set better boundaries. They feel less anxious and more confident. The trauma that used to haunt them becomes something they can recognize without being run by it.
That's the goal: not just knowing yourself better, but living differently.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. Your history matters, and we’ll understand the patterns that got you here — but that’s the beginning, not the whole thing. My focus is on the here and now: what needs to change, what behaviors need to be different, and what actually helps you feel better. Insight is a tool, not the destination.
A lot of people come to me after traditional talk therapy that never quite went anywhere — they talked a lot, felt heard, but their life didn’t change. I use focused, evidence-based methods like EMDR for trauma and I-CBT for OCD, and we set clear goals so you can actually feel the difference. Many clients notice change faster than they expected.
Both, in the right proportion. Some things need recognition and validation. Other things need motivation, honest feedback, and a plan to do something differently. Part of my job is knowing which is which — and not letting sessions turn into venting that never leads anywhere.
Because your life will be different, not just your self-understanding. Concretely, that usually looks like communicating your needs clearly and kindly, having better boundaries, feeling less anxious, and carrying more confidence. We’ll check in on that progress regularly.
