Therapy for Sexual Issues & Erectile Dysfunction
Your life is working, except in this one department, and it feels like everything hinges on it. When erectile dysfunction or a sexual problem is driven by anxiety rather than biology, therapy can get you unstuck.

When the problem is anxiety, not anatomy
A huge amount of erectile dysfunction and sexual difficulty isn't medical at all. It's anxiety. One hard experience turns into worry, worry turns into pressure, and pressure makes the next time harder. Before long you're monitoring yourself instead of being present, and the fear of it happening is the very thing making it happen. That cycle is exactly what therapy is built to break.
Does This Sound Familiar?
- Your doctor found nothing physically wrong, but the problem hasn't gone away
- It happens with a partner but not on your own, a sign anxiety is involved
- You've started avoiding sex, or dreading it, because you're afraid of what might happen
- You're stuck in your head during sex, watching and judging yourself instead of being present
- Performance anxiety, low desire, or a mismatch in libido is straining your relationship
- The rest of your life is going well, but this one thing feels like it could unravel everything
How I Can Help
I treat sexual issues the way I treat everything else: directly, without embarrassment, and with a focus on actual change rather than just talking about it. Many sexual problems are anxiety disorders in disguise, and once we address the anxiety and the pressure underneath, the symptom often follows.
We'll look at the loop keeping you stuck: the self-monitoring, the fear of failure, and any past experiences or relationship dynamics feeding it. Where trauma is part of the story, I use EMDR to take the charge out of it. The goal is for sex to stop feeling like a test you might fail and start feeling like something you can actually enjoy.
I work alongside your physician when a medical cause is also in play, and I'm comfortable with all of it. Nothing you bring is going to surprise me.
What to Expect
We'll start by understanding when the problem shows up and what surrounds it, because the pattern usually tells us whether we're dealing with anxiety, relationship dynamics, past experiences, or some combination. From there I'll build a focused plan aimed at the real driver, not just the symptom.
Sessions are 50 minutes, held online via secure video. Many people prefer online sessions for the privacy, and this work can absolutely be done remotely.
Frequently Asked Questions
It can be either, and often it’s both. A good first step is ruling out physical causes with your doctor. But when ED shows up mainly in certain situations (with a partner but not alone, after a stressful stretch, or once anxiety about it takes hold), that points to a psychological component that therapy treats well. We can work alongside your physician.
Most performance issues run on a loop: one difficult experience creates anxiety, and that anxiety makes the next experience harder, which deepens the anxiety. Therapy interrupts that loop. We work on the pressure and self-monitoring driving it, and often on the relationship dynamics or past experiences feeding it, so sex stops being a test you’re afraid of failing.
It’s a lot less awkward than you’d think. This is ordinary clinical territory for me. I’m direct, matter-of-fact, and not fazed by any of it. Most people feel relief the moment they realize they can finally talk about it plainly with someone who won’t flinch.
Not necessarily. Sexual issues are often best addressed in individual work, especially when anxiety is the driver. If your relationship is part of the picture, we can bring your partner in for some sessions, but that’s your call, and plenty of people do this work on their own.
